Story Time
Create a story together. One person starts by give a few lines of a made up story, the next persons adds a few more lines to progress the story. Continue around the fire until the story concludes.

Variations:

  • Pick a subject for the story before it starts. Examples: Best/Worse Camping Trip Ever Story, Creepy Scary Story, Funny Animal Story

  • Pick out a few random things that must be included in the story. Example: Tator Tots, Swimming, Llamas and Christmas

  • Fortunately/Unfortunately ... The first player begins the story with a fortunate or positive statement. Example: "Fortunately I went to the store and got everything we need for S'Mores" The next player contributes an unfortunate statement to continue the story, such as: “Unfortunately, it rained last night and the wood is too wet to build a fire.” Player three adds another positive statement, “Fortunately, I brought my hair dryer and I can dry out the wood with that.” Player four adds another unfortunate statement, and so on. Play continues until the story comes to a logical conclusion…either happily or unhappily!

Sitting By The Fire I Hope We See

The person who starts says "Sitting at the fire I hope we see _________." and adds something. It could be something logical like a squirrel, stars or marshmallows or something ridiculous like a Yeti or a UFO. The 2nd person repeats the phrase and what is already said and adds an item. The next person says the phrase repeats ALL items in the trunk and adds their own. Once a player misses something they are out. Play continues until there is only one person left.

Through the Alphabet

Pick a category and take turns naming something that starts with the letter in sequence. First person uses A, the 2nd player B etc

Category Suggestions:
Things Associated with Camping
Animals
Cars

Places

Telephone
Sitting around the campfire the first person begins by whispering something to the player next to him . That person then whispers the message to the next player. This continues til the message has gone all the way around the  whispered to the player on hispassed in order from person-to-person, and the last person announces to the group the message he heard. Invariably, the message has changed as it's been passed along, providing a fun laugh for all.

Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

FLASHLIGHT TAG

A variation of tag, this activity is one that should take place outside the ring of campfire chairs, since it involves running around in the semi-dark. This game can be done with kids and adults, or for kids-only if you’re looking for something to keep them entertained while the grownups sit around the fire. (Again, clearly define game boundaries before you start to play).

The person who is “it” is given a flashlight and shuts their eyes and counts to 30 while everyone else hides. Then they search for the other players, using the lit flashlight. If they find someone, they “tag” them by shining their flashlight on them. That new person then becomes “it,” taking the flashlight and counting to 30 while the other players hide.
